	1	Banking & Industries	In the last 54th Council Meeting held on 18th May, 2007, it was decided that NEC and Ministry of DoNER shall convene special discussion on Banking and Credit issues with Banking institutions, State Government and Reserve Bank of India. Accordingly, a draft concept paper was prepared by Indian Institute of Bank Management (IIBM), Guwahati   for the purpose. A special summit was held on 4th October, 2008 in New Delhi on Banking, Industries and Credit issues of NE which was addressed by Hon’ble Union Finance Minister and RBI, all banks , NGOs and State Govts of NE. The concept paper was basically emphasized on financial inclusion – a solution for NER so that banking can be more meaningful for the region, it has to reach and touch majority of them and in a sustainable manner.
