i) In Fifth Plan 20 Roads covering 1472 kms at a cost of Rs. 102.85 crores.
ii) In Sixth Plan 65 Roads covering 4326 kms at a cost of Rs. 1611.84 crores (this includes construction of 12 Nos. Bridges).
iii) In Seventh Plan 9 Roads covering 1309 kms at a cost of Rs. 599.00 crores.
There are no ongoing projects against the 5th, 6th and 7th Plan Roads. All the projects are completed. Due to huge spill-over cost of the 6th and the 7th Plan, there were no Road schemes for the 8th Plan.
iv) During the 9th Plan, 11 road schemes were taken up having a length of 588.90 kms with an estimated cost of Rs.494.81 crores. Out of the 11 road schemes, 10 roads are expected to complete by March, 2007. 1 (One) road project in Assam viz. Zamuang-Hriphaw may be spilled- over to the 1 1 th Plan. All the ongoing 9th Plan schemes are expected to be completed shortly.
v) During the 10th Plan, 57 road schemes were recommended by the Council, out of which 37 road schemes were cleared by the Planning Commission and the EFC cleared a total of 36 roads having a total road length of 1905.60 kms with an estimated cost of Rs. 1690.26 crores. Out of these approved 36 road schemes, all are in different stages of progress. Out of these 36, three are expected to be completed by March, 2007.
In case of Sikkim, 20 roads and bridges have been sanctioned in the 10th Plan at an estimated cost of Rs. 108.81 crores. All these projects are under different stages of implementation. These projects are State specific ones as per the amended NEC Act.
